Hi! My name is Christina Schekirke, and I am so excited to be working, learning, and exploring with SVF students this year! I am thrilled to continue my teaching career as a part of the Saint Vincent Ferrer team!

This is my second year here at St. Vincent Ferrer. In addition to teaching 7-8th grade LA and Social Studies, I am also the Middle School Team Leader, and director of Student Council. Previously, I spent the last three years in Taichung, Taiwan, teaching at an international boarding school. I taught 8th and 9th grade Language Arts, Literature, Physical Science, and Project Based Learning. I also coached Middle School and High School Women’s soccer, and was very excited to be awarded the “Teacher of the Year” award for the 2015-2016 school year.

In 2014, I graduated from the University of Illinois: Urbana-Champaign and earned my BS in Elementary Education with a focus in Middle School curriculum.

My main goal as an educator is to instill a passion for learning in each and every student by making education relevant to their lives, and providing them with the tools and resources necessary for them to find their own calling past graduation. I work to achieve this by differentiating instruction to meet all learners needs, and working to adapt materials and resources to fit students’ interests while meeting our school’s standards and objectives.

My greatest passion is teaching, but when I’m not in the classroom I love to read, travel, and spend time with family and friends. I cannot wait to meet you all and get started in the SVF community!
